Truthinertia...
...is a phrase coined by the great Bill Hicks (RIP).
“It’s called “The Sniper’s Nest”…boxes are set up…It’s glassed in, you can’t actually get to the window…and the reason they did that is because… they didn’t want thousands of tourists each year coming through to the window goin’…’NO WAY.’ Yeah, that would’ve started this TRUTH INERTIA happening… You can get to the window next to it and say “I can’t even see the ROAD from here!" -- Bill Hicks (referring to the Kennedy Assassination)
Truth
My name is JR Ryan. I am a multidisciplinary designer with experience in a range of fields not limited to design. I have created this site as an outlet for my interests in art and design (especially product design) and the place it has in the world as something that improves our lives.
I am always learning, which is why currently I am studying to achieve a degree in Product Design even though I already have over 15 years professional experience in other design fields. Part of how I learn is by teaching, sharing, and collaborating with others, and by doing so expanding my own understanding. Hopefully, that will happen here too.
Inertia
The law of inertia states that where no other forces are acting on it, a body that is still will remain still and a body that is in motion will remain in motion. The idea that the Truth might contain some sort of unstoppable inertial force is one that I find irresistible.
Unfortunately, so much of our world, and the design that shapes it, is oriented towards the superficial and the conspicuous consumption or our values and resources. But, that which creates the problem also provides the solution, and I hope to shine a light on those dark places.
This site is dedicated to and inspired by the thought that if enough people see a future that is positive and free for all to enjoy, then that truth inertia will carry us through.
